Jari-matti Latvala ends the day leading the 2013 Acropolis Rally in his VW Polo R WRC with 4 stages and 83.22km to go on tomorrow’s final day.
After the final stage of today the Fin said, “Luckily it was raining on this stage – if it had been raining on the stage before it would have been difficult….” It has been a very solid performance from us…still we remember this is the Acropolis….so we need lots of control tomorrow…”
Dani Sordo is second 13:41.7 “It rained heavy more and more. Very very slippery, but was okay. I not take any risks. I think I lost more at the end as it was more slippery. I am happy.”
In third Thierry Neuville 13:30.9: “It was OK..lots of heavy rain in the middle of the stage…OK, happy with the day, not pushing in the bad places – we show we can be clever at times…”
Nasser Al-Attiyah is fourth, through in 13:35.0: “I don’t know, but last 2 stages was good time for us…we tried to push…I’m quite happy with this performance…we tried to manage the race tomorrow..”
Andreas Mikkelsen charged but punctured, eventually coming through in 13:50.9: “I didn’t see, suddenly a big bang out of nowhere… I tried to push, we will see what we can do tomorrow…”
Mads Østberg has moved ahead to take sixth, ahead of Martin Prokop who came through in 13:49.7 to drop to seventh: ” at the start of the stage there was very heavy rain, and I decided to try the traction…it was very very poor, so not easy stage…few big moments”
Mikko Hirvonen broke a wheel on the stage and drove a long way on the bits… he’s eighth. In ninth, Evgeny Novikov through in 13:34.0 “Not so much to be honest. The stage was very fast, lots of straight and some very fast corners. It is still long way and I will fight, I have my own goals and I will achieve them.”
Sébastien Ogier 13:15.4 set fastest time, but wanted more rain earlier in the day: “I was looking for this rain, but this rain came too late…”
