Stage one of Rally Spain kicked off this morning, day 1 being the day of Gravel. Fords Jari-Matii Latvala was 0.5 seconds faster then Loeb, and started off by leading. It was on the next Stage that the drama begun.
Stage 2 was covered in rain ridden roads, many of the front runners had moments, due to the conditions Mikko Hirvonen, Sebastien Loeb and Jari-Matti Latvala slipped down to third,
fourth and fifth. They did better than Petter Solberg and Thierry Neuville, both of whom damaged their cars and had to
stop after what was thought to of hit the same rock, the two were soon Joined by S2000 Driver Andreas Mikklesen too. Martin prokop crashed near the finish.
It seemed the less experienced, younger stars of the future were the ones in control. M-Sports Ott Tanak took the lead over Mads Ostberg by 0.1 seconds. The Privateer pair over 14 seconds ahead of Works Driver Mikko Hirvonen.
On the following stage, the battle between them for the lead was on. Ostberg spun near the beginning of the stage, but pushed to make up time and finished the 44km Terra Alta stage 2.7 seconds ahead of Tanak to take the lead of the Rally. Dani Sordo is said to have gone off the road and is unable to get back on, Oliveira also reported to of gone off.
